What is a Stitch File?

Thursday, December 11, 2014

A stitch file is a type of computer file that is created for embroidery machines.   The embroidery process has evolve throughout the ages from sewing by hand to having state-of-the-art embroidery machines that can whip out designs in no time. Like computers, embroidery machines have their own program language and do not recognize the typical files that we see on PCs and MACs.  Therefore if you have a company logo in a jpeg or pdf file, the embroidery machine will not be able to read it in that format.  If you would like your company logo embroidered on a shirt or hat, first the file needs to be converted to a stitch file.  Stitch file prices can vary depending on the size of the design as well as the stitch count.

If you use Shirts For Anything for embroidery orders, there is only a onetime fee associated with creating a stitch file.  Once the stitch file is created, it can be used on future orders without paying additional stitch file fees.  Embroidery is most cost-effective when ordering quantities of 100 items or less.  Shirts For Anything uses high-stitch files will all embroidery designs to create a clean and crisp image.
