 It’s that time of year where American’s anticipate gorging themselves on scrumptious food and delicious turkey.  Many of us participate in turkey trot races to justify our thanksgiving binge or just to help keep us in shape through the holiday season.  One of the best parts about running a turkey trot is taking home a custom race shirt to remember the fun-filled event. If you are in charge of organizing a turkey trot this season, there are a couple of ways how you can cut costs on your event shirts. Cutting down costs will help keep your registration fees low and encourage more people to join your race.  Follow these tips to get the best-priced shirt for your race:

Few Print Colors= Lower Price

When it comes to screen-printing shirts, the cost per shirt increases as the number of colors in the design increases.  So a shirt that has a 2-color print will be less expensive than a 6-color print shirt.  If you would like two colors on your shirt (ex. brown and orange), consider saving money by ordering orange shirts with a brown colored screen-print.

Light Colored Shirts Are The Cheapest 

Light-colored shirts are easier to screen-print than dark ones, so they are less expensive.  This is because screen-printing a dark shirt requires use of a white base so that the design will show up properly.  This added step makes dark shirts slightly more expensive.

Higher Quantities=Lower Price Per Shirt

As a rule of thumb, the piece per shirt decreases with an increase in quantity ordered.  If you have leftover shirts, consider selling them the day of the race.  Families and friends who are there watching the race might just want to snag a few shirts to take for the road.
